If you know me, you know I have always been a “girl's girl.” Female friendships have been one of the most important and sacred aspects of my life. My female friendships have shaped me into who I am today; they've built up my confidence and taught me to be strong and independent. They've opened my eyes to opposing views and have challenged me to be a better and kinder woman, friend, sister, daughter, wife, and mom.
Okay, so what is Galentine's Day? Great question, especially if you don't watch Parks and Recreation. As Amy Pohler's character Leslie Knope once said, it's only the best day of the year occurring on February 13, the day before Valentine's Day. As Leslie herself explains on the show:
"Oh, it's only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It's like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas."
So instead of celebrating the love you have for your significant other (which you totally can still do...tomorrow) spend it with the lucky ladies in your life; your girlfriends, your soul mates.
Looking for a few last-minute ways to celebrate? Today on the blog, we share some easy (and pretty in pink) ways to throw a celebration that even Leslie Knope would be proud of.
THROW A PARTY
Do you really need an excuse to celebrate the lucky ladies in your life? The best part about Galentine's Day is that friendship is the theme of the day, so as long as you have your BFFs around you, you're doing it right. This is seriously the easiest (and best) holiday to celebrate, so don't let it pass you by.
There is no better way to celebrate your BFFs than with copious amounts of food and drinks in the name of #squadgoals. Whether you’re making mimosas, rose or having a champagne toast, don’t underestimate the power of a little bubbly some sweet treats — especially when everything is decked out in pink and cotton candy.
SET A PRETTY TABLE
Make your tablescape scream “let’s celebrate"! Don't be afraid of a little color (we think pink is perfect). Get some pretty blooms and play with your place settings to create a one of a kind brunch table.
GIFT SOME GOODIES
When the festivities are all said and done, send your favorite gals home with a treat goodie bag filled with some of your favorite things like candles, candy, jewelry and some beauty product faves.
THANK YOUR LADIES
The most important part of today's celebration is to remember to tell your friends how much you love and appreciate them! Don't focus on what you don't have. Instead, focus on how fortunate you are to have your girls around you. Girl power can move mountains as long as your believe in it. You are loved and your gals prove it!
Happy Galentine's Day!
A huge thanks goes out to all of the amazing vendors that came together to create this beautiful shoot.
